Reg&Bob review the Mud Daddy
I hate clutter - firstly I have nowhere to put it all but I find piles of stuff that I simply don’t use irritating. Infact Reg&Bob’s ethos has always been less is more - ensure everything works for you and earns it’s keep.
When it comes to the muddy dog clean up I feel that with the help of our fabulous partners SoggyDoggy, I’ve made it super easy. My only slight stumbling block is getting a very muddy Reg and Bob through our terraced house to the outside hose or indeed the kitchen sink. Not impossible but always awkward when they want to head straight to the sofa. A hose at the front of the house would be ideal but expensive to install and weirdly there’s a very odd couple round here who love to turn everyones hoses on! Wouldn’t it just be fabulous to be able to do the wash part at the car?
So when I first saw the Mud Daddy advertised I was intrigued. I contemplated a purchase for some time and it was only when a neighbour bought one that I had the opportunity to try it out first.. Ever the cautious shopper - a trial run was the answer.
So what is a Mud Daddy ? It’s a portable pet washing kit which uses water pressure to clean your dog, post walk. You simply fill the plastic water tank with water before you leave for your walk - store in the boot of the car and when you need it, pump the handle to create sufficient pressure in the hose to wash your dog. There’s a brush attached to the hose which helps with the cleaning process. And the best part is that you can fill the Mud Daddy with warm water which makes the cleaning significantly more effective. One 5 litre cannister easily cleans two Norfolk terriers but larger sizes are also available.
I would say setting it up correctly in the first place is key. I’m not one for reading instructions but if I had I would have made life a lot simpler. The instructions are very clear and the online problem solving videos also very good - really there was no excuse!
The combination of the Mud Daddy cleaner and a SoggyDoggy drying shammy and crate mat in the car boot means that Reg and Bob are now clean AND dry by the time we get home and now it’s straight to the sofa (via the treat drawer ) for the post walk chill.
So I love it - it’s really made the muddy dog cleanup just that extra bit easier and whilst Reg&Bob never enjoy any form of cleaning (despite the murky waters they will happily swim in) our return home is all the more pleasant.
Being able to quickly clean muddy wellies too is an extra bonus and our car is all the smarter for not being doused in mud.
So any negatives? Well my advice is always read the instructions - the simple set-up is worth doing properly if you don’t want an irritated husband unhappy about the water leaks in the car boot! I would also say the shorter the dog hair - the easier the cleaning. Reg and Bob’s recent groom has made everything much quicker - no less mud (they are low very low to the ground after all) but in our experience the brush works much better on shorter fur. I just have to remember to check the Mud Daddy is always loaded and ready to use and we’re away. There will always be some walks where a full bath is necessary and I’m not sure a Mud Daddy will remove the lingering smell of fox poo - but that would be a lot to ask!!
I do think the price (around £50 ) is a little hefty but the Mud Daddy site has a number of offers so it’s worth doing your homework and if it lasts the distance then it’s money very well spent.
And of course the Mud Daddy pairs really well with our SoggyDoggy drying shammys and mats - the super absorbent noddles make sure the boys don’t need any extra drying when they get home. And you can always throw your Reg&Bob collars and leads in the washing machine for the perfect finish.
